Ministries of First Church

Below are a few of the many ministries that we support at First Church through our prayers, our presence, our gifts, and our service:

Monday nights from 6-7 p.m. in the Education Building. 

Cub Scouts

We have a very active Cub Scout troop that meets at our church on most Monday nights.

1st and 3rd Tuesday evenings from
6-7:30 p.m. in the Education Building. 

Girl Scouts

We have a rather large contingency of Girl Scouts that meet here at our church as well on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.  For more information, please contact the church office. 


  • Girl Scout Troop 543 here at First Church is in need of a new scout leader. If you would like to help out in this role, or know of someone who would be a great fit for this area of leadership, please contact Emily Yarbrough at, or contact the church office, 704-857-9713, for more information.

Main Street MarketPlace Meeting Place

We support our local China Grove cooperative Christian  ministry in a variety of ways.

Project AGAPE

We have been ardent supporters of Project AGAPE for many years.  This is a joint venture between the NC Conference and the Western NC Conference of The United Methodist Church that works in mission and ministry with the people of Armenia.

  • Donations for Project AGAPE will be accepted during the last two weeks of September. These can be dropped off at the church office anytime between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The following items will be accepted: New and used children’s clothes, new shoes (all ages), household and hygiene items. Items that cannot be accepted include toothpaste, food, electrical items or anything that has batteries. Please email Wanda Watts at for more information.
  • Christmas shoe box donations for Project AGAPE will be accepted Sept. 27-Oct. 1. These can be dropped by the church office anytime between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Packing lists are available in the church office, and boxes can be found at the entrance of Langford Hall. For more information, email Wanda Watts at



Rowan one church one child

Rowan One Church One Child (ROCOC) is a partnership between Rowan County Department of Social Services (RCDSS) and Rowan County churches whose purpose is to ensure healthy, safe, and protective outcomes for Rowan County children and teenagers who are victimized and traumatized by sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, neglect, or dependency who are currently receiving Child Protective, In-Home Case Management, Foster Care, or Adoption services from the RCDSS Children Services Division. ROCOC’s goal is to keep birth families intact or assist relative caregivers who provide care to children.  To learn more, visit their website at
